Frequently Asked Questions

Classes

What is your weather policy?

We race in the rain, so we have classes in the rain! Raining driving is the best training a driver can receive! If by some chance there is severe weather; we will postpone/delay the program or reschedule if needed.

What if I need to cancel?

We understand that schedules change and emergencies come up. We will work with you to get you rescheduled and moved to another class. We ask that all students/participants try to reschedule within 1 year of the original date they signed up. We will refund, if applicable, all but the payment processing fees associated with the original transaction.

Are guest welcome?

Yes, we encourage you bring guest! We just ask that minors are accompanied by an adult at all times while on the property.

Can I bring my own car to drive in the class?

While we love that our clients have beautiful fast cars, we use our Formula cars for our classes. They provide the best balance and reliability for our curriculum. If you or your car club would like to do a track rental, please contact John Speight at 615-400-3539 or speight.john@ptcdriving.com.

Do I need any previous racing experience?

No, whether you have experience or not, our classes can accommodate both inexperienced and experienced racers.

What if I wreck the car?

All classes and programs have a damage reduction supplement that is offered at during check in. It is a set daily rate that will cap the damage amount of cost to the participant.

Are we allowed to pass on track?

This would not be a racing school if we did not allow passing. All schools allow passing in designated areas on the track.

How fast can I go?

Schools are structured to introduce the student to racing and operating a formula car. At the beginning of the class, there will be speed limits placed on the student to allow them to get comfortable to the car. As we progress through the day and the student becomes more comfortable and skilled; we remove the speed limits and allow for the student to drive at their own pace.

Travel & Equipment

How do I get to PTC?

The physical address is 1054 Polecat Hollow Rd, Fayetteville, TN 37334. We are located about 8 miles north of Lynchburg TN. You can drive from Nashville via I-65 or I-24; both of which are an hour (1) and thirty (30) min drive. We are a little over one (1) hour north of Huntsville and one (1) hour and forty-five (45) min from Chattanooga. All three cities have Airports (Nashville: BNA; Huntsville: HSV; and Chattanooga: CHA) that service many different states and airports.

Is there any lodging near the track?

Tullahoma and Fayetteville are the closest towns to Polecat Training Center with major chain hotels. Lynchburg has some small motels as well as bed and breakfasts. AirBnB and VRBO on Tim's Ford lake is an option, as well.

Do I need any equipment?

Polecat Training Center provides all essential racing equipment — including helmets and racing suits — so you can focus entirely on driving. Students will need to bring their own shoes and gloves. Thin soled shoes work best, such as wrestling shoes, driving loafers, or boat shoes. We recommend leather or flame resistant gloves for the school. As an authorized OMP and Bell Helmets dealer, we can order additional gear with advance notice. We also suggest bringing a change of clothes and a towel in case of rain.
